Emotional and Energetic Body

If you have been to me before, then you know that I offer more than just a massage to the muscles. In regard to the body, I have studied Ayurvedic massage, Myofascial release and Lymphatic drainage.

However, my experience as a human being as well as my experience with clients is that the body holds the story of your life. If we speak of our lives in metaphor, then these clues about our bodies are obvious. "I carry the weight of the world on my shoulders" -tension in the neck and shoulders. "I feel like I'm walking on eggshells" -plantar fasciitis. "My heart is heavy" - upper back pain, slouching and pain radiating in the arms and hands. I could write a novel of metaphors. In addition to the location of our pain, the right and left side are representative as well. Right side is Masculine, which can either have

something to do with a man in your life, or the masculine energy of action, logic and providing. The left side is Feminine which shows up when there is an issue with a woman in your life or the feminine energy of creativity, nurture and flow. Beginning to ask the question "why?" is the most important start to your journey of healing. Feeling the pain and asking WHY does this hurt? What is this trying to tell me? The deeper the pain, the longer it has been there.

We are taught to suppress our emotions and with Western medical approaches to mask pain. I went to the doctor once because my heart was hurting and when the doctor came in to check on me, I started to cry. Within seconds, he was offering me a lorazepam and I couldn't paint a picture more clearly as to how our emotions are dealt with,,,and the heart pain? Grief. Nothing was wrong in any other sense. It was grief and I was feeling it. The suppression of emotion gets stuck in our tissues and if you think you have no trauma to pull from, I'm sorry to say- but you do. Some traumas are small instances, nuanced neglect or grating criticism over a period of time. Some, very obvious in the sense of an accident or abuse. But we all experience trauma in some way because we are all human. Our parents, grandparents, caregivers, siblings, friends, teachers- all human, with flaws, that could never have treated us perfectly. The body knows this and creates defences. A body armour will create a harder exterior both emotionally and physically and I can feel it in my client. Sometimes, the trauma will result in intense sensitivity to touch, sound, foods, clothing. I see this too, often. We all have a way of coping with life and our connective tissues are on board for the protective measures. Sometimes winding so tightly, nothing can come through including the energetic flow that needs to happen in your body to keep it healthy. Sometimes fear and anger run through the veins showing up as inflammation causing deep pain and issues in our organs and tissues.

If you look at older and Eastern medicines, Ayurveda and Chinese Traditional Medicine for example, these messages are very clear. We have energy lines running through our bodies and the traumas we experience in life throw us out of balance causing sickness both physically and mentally. Each organ holds an emotion and with that, causes a ripple effect of disease and illness. Following these intuitive practices and taking practical steps like changing my diet, going to therapy, exercising and getting reiki done, I have been able to cure my hyperthyroidism, post-partum rage, anxiety, depression, menstrual pain and crippling inflammation. If you have any questions and would like to learn more, please get in touch. I want nothing more than to spread a bit of healing in this world.
